Argentina MapBuenos Aires is the capital of Argentina, located on the southern end of South America. The city offers an amazing cultural experience with delicious food, historic monuments, and fashionable shopping, all for bargain prices. Four years of a recession has made the Argentian Peso become so devalued versus the US Dollar that any American visitor will feel like royalty with their purchasing power. The exchange rate is approximately 3 Pesos for every 1 Dollar. Just to give you an example, a glass of wine will run about 5 pesos and a top quality steak will be about 15-20 pesos!

The most expensive part of the trip will be getting there. Copa Airlines specializes in travel to and from South America, offers reasonable rates to Beunos Aires. A round trip flight from Los Angeles (LAX) will cost you nearly $900 and a flight from New York (JFK) will lighten your wallet $1000-$1200 depending on the season. Peak travel times will be during November-March, a time when many vacationers are escaping the cold weather to enjoy the summer season of the Southern hemisphere.

Huge tip! I had such aggravation down here buying a plane ticket within the country. There is basically one domestic airline Aerolineas so they have a strangle hold on the prices and tax foreigners because they can. I checked 2 prices ontheir website, one from residing in US side(English) and then one residing Argentina(Spanish). I found a huge discrepancy in price! of $200.00 USD in savings in flying to UShuia. Some flights were also not available. First I called the contact office NY , they said I have to buy the tickets under “residing in US.S. Then I called the contact office in Buenos Aires (not in US) and they gave me the Argentinian price and gave them info about the place where we staying. I have to pick up the tickets at their office, i hope it works out.
